Gretton Primary School

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

Leaders make sure that pupils with SEND receive the right kind of specialist support. Staff make sure that pupils are helped with their learning. This is a strength of the school.

Mrs Kerry Young - kerry.young@grettonprimary.org

At Gretton we make great efforts to make sure everyone is included in our activities and learning, whatever their educational needs.  Every child has full access to the curriculum and we use a variety of teaching styles and scaffolding, to ensure that all children can access learning in the classroom.  If appropriate, children have individual plans and dedicated support to achieve their targets, where these are significantly higher or lower than the rest of the class. This enables them to understand the relevance and purpose of learning activities and experience levels of progress that bring feelings of success and achievement.

What is the Local Offer?

The purpose of the Local Offer is to enable parents and young people to find out more easily the services that are available in their area and how to access them.  The Local Offer will include provision from birth to 25, across education, health, social care and the voluntary sector.

Within Northamptonshire, there is a Local Offer Team who:

  • Provide information for families with children who have a special educational need or disability.
  • Improve choice and transparency for these families.
  • Help professionals to understand the range of services and provision available locally.
  • Improve joint commissioning arrangements for services by setting out (in a single place) what is available locally
